Consequences

Good, sound hooves are indispensable for the proper functionality of the horse.

However, a hoof affected by fungi and/or bacteria is impeded in its functionality. This can cause various problems, which only reveal themselves to the human eye when the disease has reached an advanced stage. Only then does the infection become visible by incorrect positions of the lower limbs and a deviating form of the hoof. This will at least cause irritation and in the worst case even injuries and pain.

If such an infection is not discovered and treated in time, it will spread and affect ligaments, joints, tendons and bursa, which increases the chances of abscesses in the hoof, excess wear of the joints, infection of the navicular bones and broken tendons. Eventually the horse will go permanently lame. The quality of the hoof will rapidly degenerate. If correct treatment is not administered in time, the damage to the horse can become irreparable.
